DEAR ROSE

Dear Rose,

You said hello again to me this morning
And remembered that I take my coffee black
Finally had the courage to ask your name
You smiled and said “It’s Rose” right back
It’s been so long since someone made me feel
What I felt inside when you waved goodbye
And I can’t help myself but keep on dreaming
To see your face again after the night

Dear Rose,

I know I come here everyday
I swear that I’m just here for chores
You can’t see the things I hide behind my smile
And if you did, I wouldn’t get yours
But Rose, can we just take a second
To recognize the moment we just had
Would you be my friend that’s all I’m asking
I know you’ll never understand

Dear Rose,

Maybe the reason I’m here on earth
Is for a purpose that’s not for me
The weight I carry is for someone else
To make me the man I’m supposed to be
The cost of life is pain and suffering
And we’re the ones that have to pay
But Rose, your heart reminds me of home
It takes me to a better place

Dear Rose,

I know one day you’ll move on
When you find a better job down the line
That’s okay, I just hope you’ll tell me
So I can see that smile one last time
But for now, Rose, I’ll keep on coming
Every day to this coffee shop
To feel a glimpse of our maker’s love
Dreaming of a day when it won’t stop

Earth, Milky Way
