The darkness loud, it closes in
It knows the places I have been
I hold my breath, pray to escape
It won’t be keen my soul to take
Then the softest voice does say
Step forward my son, I’ll lead the way
By faith I walk into the deep
Darkness surrounds, but my heart is at peace
I see the faintest glimmer of light
Then suddenly light comes bursting in the night
I make out a figure of a man
Whose feet are bare upon the sand
He takes a knee with oh such grace
At last, I look upon his face
He wraps his arms around me tight
As if He’s known me all this time
I feel a Love I’ve always known
And He whispers “My son, welcome home”
