THE MAN

“Why” is a question the man asked himself
Over and over again
When he found himself angry with the hand he’d been dealt
He was nearly at his rope’s end
He turned his anger at God above
Pointing his blame toward the sky
“What have I done to deserve this down here?
I must know the reason why!”
And after all the years he’d lived on this earth
This was the first time he heard
The answer he knew deep down all along
From the voice that speaks without words
“Why did you think that this would be easy?
Anything with purpose is hard
Value does not come without a price
No, easy is just not in the cards
Now, do you think that you’d have made it this far
If your mother gave you comfort and care?
For 25 years you relentlessly worked
Just to come up for a breath of air
Or what if I hadn’t let all of those girls
Take your heart and treat it like trash?
How else would you teach all the young men in the world
To keep living and rise from the ash
The pain and the problems you’ve had all this time
Do not happen because I am mean
They have a very good purpose my son
It is exactly the things that you need
So get to the gym you don’t need a grin
Happiness is not why you’re here
You must build your strength and harden your mind
And teach the people to overcome fear
I gave you this fight for good reason my son
When I placed these tasks in your care
I did not say they would treat you right
No I did not say life would be fair
You cannot escape the pain and the hurt
At least not while you’re in this place
People will come from near and from far
Just to gleefully spit in your face
You have the strength in body and heart
To endure a burden this great
Most would be crushed from the thought alone
But you can carry the weight
The road ahead is not full of fun
But remember it’s not about you
The mission you have is far and beyond
More important than happiness too
This is the reason I need you my son
It’s all a part of my plan
To be strength for these broken souls in this world
That’s why I made you The Man.”
