There are two of me
Each one tells the other what they want to be
One is a child who's scared and in fear
Who wants to be loved and held near and dear
The other is the man with a heart full of love
Filled up with joy from the Creator above
Both of these me's are always at war
Each tells the other, "No, I matter more"
They fight and they bicker, they're never at rest
Putting me everyday to the ultimate test
Will I love this person who caused me this pain?
Or will the child inside try to fight and to blame?
I call on my Father to show me the way
Drawing closer and closer to Him every day
He quiets both me's when their voices are loud
And I start to hear the faintest of sounds
A still, small voice does begin to speak
And a curious thing starts to happen to me
He tells the child "You're safe with me here"
"You're loved forever and there's nothing to fear"
To the man he gives wisdom and strength to endure
To deliver His Love for it is the cure
And when I lay down in the night to go sleep
I have no more sorrow because He gives me peace
The two me's inside learn to live hand in hand
To the other they each become a good friend
And all of my days He carries me through
In the end I realize the answer was You
